Why There’s No Such Thing As Day-Of-Wedding Coordination
Engaged? Congratulations! You’ve likely started looking around for help with your wedding day and considered a Day-Of Wedding Coordinator instead of a Wedding Planner. I’m here to tell you to be careful-- you might get exactly what you’ve ordered!
Day-Of Wedding Coordination is pretty new in the wedding world. In recent years, it’s become one of the most buzzed-about “secrets” being spread on wedding blogs, magazines and websites.
It makes sense why brides are so interested-- you can do your own wedding planning and hire a Coordinator to handle the logistics on your wedding day. You get the ice cream and the cherry on top-- you save money on a wedding planner AND have an experienced professional execute your wedding to perfection.
It sounds great, doesn’t it?
But before you walk down the aisle, there’s something you need to know:
Day-Of Wedding Coordination is a myth.
Here’s The Cold Hard Truth
You might be looking at your screen right now and saying, “You’re wrong, Claudia! I’ve found a wonderful day-of wedding coordinator who says everything will be perfect.” And I understand where you’re coming from. If you’re shopping around for a wedding professional, you’ve probably come across tons of “Day-Of “services, or someone who promises the world.
However, Day-Of Coordination just isn’t realistic. I tried to offer it as a service myself! And every time, the same obstacles popped up, teaching me that:
- Without a skilled professional, you won’t see the scheduling problems that every couple faces when they plan their own wedding
- To throw a great wedding, your wedding planner needs to study your signed vendor contracts (and there’s no time on the wedding day), otherwise set up, execution and tear down is impossible
- Even the most talented wedding planners can’t execute a schedule without seeing it beforehand
- Day-Of-Coordinators can’t pivot when things go belly-up-- and they always do in these situations!
